Have you ever wondered if veneers would work for you? There are other options to make your teeth whiter, bright, or straighter. But if you’re looking for that Hollywood smile with perfectly straight teeth, veneers are often the best choice. Let’s take a look at the process of getting veneers and what you can expect if you decide this is the right treatment for you.

Initial Consultation Appointment

Veneers aren’t the right option for everyone, so we’ll start with an initial consultation to assess your teeth, what you are aiming to achieve, and decide if veneers are the best option for you.

We’ll go through other potential options and carefully explain the aftercare and commitment to veneers to make sure you are happy with the choice.

If so, we’ll take impressions and x-rays so your veneers can be custom made.

Creating the Veneers

On the day of the fitting, a small portion of the enamel from each tooth is removed to create space for the custom-fitted veneers. This is to ensure the veneers fit well without impeding your natural bite.

Once we’ve removed the enamel, we’ll take moulds and send these off for the veneers to be moulded around.

You’ll be fitted with temporary veneers to make your teeth look normal in the interim and protect your now stripped back teeth from over-sensitivity.

Fitting the Veneers

When the veneers have been created in our lab, you’ll come back in to have your permanent veneers fitted. We use an acidic gel to gently dissolve minerals on the teeth, which gives a rough surface for the veneers to bond to. This ensures the veneers bond well and don’t feel loose.

The veneers are then cemented in place using a quick hardening process, giving you solid veneers in mere minutes. Anaesthetic isn’t required and the procedure is virtually painless.

Aftercare

After your new veneers are fitted, there is minimal downtime. You may feel slight sensitivity to hot or cold food and drink for some time, but this will go away with time.

But there are no other side effects of veneers and you can look after them like you would real teeth. When well looked after with regular brushing, veneers can last ten years or longer.

You may be invited back for a follow-up after several weeks or months to see how you’re getting on with your new veneers and make sure you’re keeping up with aftercare.
